From 17th to 23th of June 2018 we organized the International Youth Exchange “Youth Building Bridges”. The project took place in Slovenia and involved 24 young people and 7 leaders from Slovenia, Finland and Portugal with different kind of backgrounds (culture and environmental) and personal life situation. The issue of the exchange was education through different sport activities, supporting outdoor activites and finding out how can we influence on our physical and mental health and also spread awarness of a refugee complexity topic. The exchange aim was to provide young people with a framework for a healthy lifestyle by focusing on the benefits of participating in outdoor activities and to become more sensible about refugee topic in EU. The program was a combination of practical activities where young people worked in teams trying out different sports and “close to nature”- activities complemented with a number of workshops. Youths have learnt more about Slovenian culture by visiting some cities and nature goods.
The young people had a main role in activities; they were active mentally and pshically and they learnt that results of the high motivation are new knowledge, new experiences, new skills. The youngsters promoted intercultural dialog and understanding between youngsters from different countries. The emphasis of the program was built self-esteem, acceptance of other people, open our minds, learn about other cultures and value different countries. Trough challenges in outdoor activities we could compare our lives and the situations we live in.
Working methods: group work with discussions on the issue, group evaluation meetings, intercultural evenings, informal meetings, presentations, different workshops, etc.
Mladi si želijo še več tovrstnih projektov, potovanj in ohranjanje stikov z udeleženci izmenjave.
Metode, ki smo jih uporabljali: skupinsko delo, diskusije v skupini in v manjših skupinah, evalvacijski pogovori, nacionalni večeri, neformalni pogovori, predstavitve, izobraževalni izleti, razne delavnice, idr.
